
The second batch of the Internet Governance-based Digital Literacy Program for Professionals has successfully concluded, marking another milestone in the Civil Society Alliances for Digital Empowerment (CADE) project. This intensive four-week course, held from November 23 to December 14, 2024, equipped professionals from across South Asia with crucial knowledge and skills in internet governance and digital rights.
Training Highlights
The hybrid program, conducted both in Colombo and online, featured a comprehensive curriculum led by industry experts:
1. Internet Governance in the Age of AI: Udara Dharmasena
2. Foundations of Internet Law: Ashwini Natesan
3. Human Rights in the Digital Space: Jerome Cooray
4. Socio-Economic Impact of the Internet: Dr. Prasad Perera
Participants, including educators, CSO workers, and legal and media personnel, gained valuable insights into the complexities of the digital landscape, preparing them to become effective advocates for change in their communities.
CADE Project Overview
The training is a key component of the CADE initiative, co-funded by the European Union and spearheaded by the Diplo-Foundation (Malta). This global project aims to strengthen civil societies across South Asia, South America, MENA, and the Pacific regions. Sarvodaya-Fusion leads the South Asian arm, focusing on Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Looking Ahead
As Sarvodaya-Fusion continues its commitment to digital empowerment, the organization is already preparing for the third batch of training scheduled for January 2025. This ongoing effort promises to create a growing network of changemakers dedicated to shaping a digitally inclusive and rights-aware society.
